Barcelona Director Confirms Rejection of Real Madrid Star Offer

Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, has disclosed that the club's transfer executives chose not to pursue an offer for Bernardo Silva this past summer. This decision was made even though the Portuguese international had expressed his interest in joining the Catalan giants.

Bernardo Silva, who is 32 years old, ultimately signed with one of Spain's leading clubs, Real Madrid, in June after his contract with Manchester City expired. However, while still a free agent, it's understood that the midfielder had set his sights on a move to Barcelona.

In a recent interview with Catalan outlet RAC1, Deco addressed the speculation linking his compatriot to Barcelona. The Barcelona chief, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, admitted:

"It wasn't the role we were prioritizing. He desired to join Barça, but it did not materialize because we have our own internal considerations. It was a matter of finances and guaranteed playing time. He wanted to play, but I prefer to nurture our own players."
