Barcelona Star: Lamine Yamal is the Undisputed Ballon d'Or Winner

João Cancelo, a prominent player for Barcelona, has voiced his firm belief that his young teammate Lamine Yamal is the singular individual deserving of this year's Ballon d'Or award.

The discourse surrounding the 2026 'Golden Ball' has recently captured widespread attention in the global football community. This follows the official release of the 30-player shortlist recognizing football's most outstanding performer over the past twelve months.

Lamine Yamal, the aforementioned player, is prominently featured on this list, alongside a constellation of the sport's most celebrated names.

At just 19 years old, Yamal is currently regarded as a leading contender for the prestigious accolade. His past year has been marked by significant achievements, including securing a La Liga title and the World Cup.

As previously indicated, João Cancelo is among those who consider Lamine Yamal the clear favorite to claim the Ballon d'Or at the upcoming ceremony in Paris next month.

During a media engagement on Thursday, the Barcelona full-back Cancelo asserted:

"Lamine Yamal is the only player who merits winning the Ballon d'Or. At 19, he has already amassed numerous titles, including the World Cup and Euros, alongside all team trophies with Barça. His season was truly exceptional... and he is, by a considerable margin, the best talent and player globally.

"In my view, no other player should be considered for the Ballon d'Or. It must be Lamine."
